Woodworker Jason Franklin has followed in the footsteps of his Father and Grandfather, and has a passion for woodworking in his blood.

As an experienced home contractor and carpenter, he has built additions and done major renovations on some of the finest homes in the DC/MD/VA area. He understands wood and how to shape it into useful, structurally sound forms, and has combined that expertise and passion with his formal art training to produce his own thoughtfully and artistically crafted wood creations.

From custom orders to our own signature designs, we can create a work of art from just about every species of Domestic and Exotic Hardwoods. Our designs incorporate live edge and dimensional hardwood lumber. Whether it’s a live-edge table, end-grain cutting board, or live-edge charcuterie board, Franklin Woodworks offers something for every price point and style.

Wood is a beautiful product of Mother Nature.  Like people, each tree grows and forms differently.  The natural imperfections of the grain, knots, and other features that are created in the wood as it grows are unique to each piece.  We embrace the beauty of the imperfections, and highlight them whenever possible.  This makes each creation one of a kind.

Wood Varieties

We source our live edge and dimensional hardwood lumber from locations all over our area, including South Central Pennsylvania, Rural Maryland, and the Shenandoah Valley. Not only do we enjoy finding the ‘perfect’ wood, we also love crafting fine pieces that celebrate and incorporate the unique features of the wood, such as the live (uncut) edge, unusual grain patterns, and splits and ‘flaws’ that add character and uniqueness to a finished piece.

Gentle Finishes

We utilize some of the best epoxy casting resins and all natural finishes available today to bring an accent of color and safe, lustrous finishes to each piece we create. Wherever possible we use low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) products that are not harmful to people or the environment. Our finished surfaces are sealed using the finest oils and other food-safe finishes so that they not only resist wear for years to come but so that they are safe for you, your family, and your pets.

Shipping & Delivery

Shipping costs are determined at the time of the shipment, and will depend upon the size and weight of the product. We offer hand delivery for larger pieces such as dining tables within a 2-hour radius of our workshop in Germantown, Maryland.
